⡇Coucou la communauté des French learners !
Je vais maintenant parler en anglais pour conclure et vous expliquer la prochaine étape pour acquérir le français naturellement.
I am now going to speak in English to conclude and to tell you more about the next step to acquire French the natural way.
First of all, congratulations ! As we say in French « Félicitations ! ». You have now completed the Infant Stage. You are not a French beginner anymore.
Being part of a community of French learners is VERY important. You are not alone. You have OUR support and care.
Share your experience. Share your journey. Tell us about YOU, how you feel, your favourite session, your favourite story, word and/or expression in the comments or in the Community chat.
JOIN the community lives happening on Saturdays and organized by our dear member themselves. Tina, Diane, Graham, Nelly, Karel and many other members meet every Saturday. They read a story together and play games in French. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other French learners from all over the world !
JOIN me and the community on Fridays once a month. We discuss books, paintings and sculptures and we also co-create stories.
Check out the Communiy Chat and the Member Area to find out what is happening and when. When you know you are not alone in this beautiful journey, you keep it up !
What can you do in French now ?
You are now able to comprehend stories which include the most frequent French words and structures used in everyday conversations. You have now built a strong foundation and you can understand much more. The sounds of the language are becoming clearer now, and you are getting used to how the sounds are likely to be combined.
Because you are starting to get used to what the language sounds like, you start learning words faster, without needing to hear them so many times. You are now, getting used to more complicated grammar. You also have a good intuition for basic grammar, like sentence order. You are starting to think in French, which is amazing !
But remember that langage acquisition is a journey. Remember you are still an « infant » in the journey. So it is normal if you are not able to speak yet. Infants or babies don’t speak fluently. They start to repeat words and sentences as you started doing it with the « vocalizing » sessions. But they continue to observe and listen a lot. That is why, you still need to observe and listen.
What is the next step?
Continue to listen and read French everyday (if you can). On the membership homepage, you can choose to listen to and read
> Baby Stories: https://www.aliceayel.com/stories/baby-stories/
> Infant Stories: https://www.aliceayel.com/stories/infant-stories/You can start reading aloud too. Turn on the « Audio Sync View » button and follow my Dear Man’s voice reading the story. Read the text aloud along with my Dear Man. It will train your mouth and your tongue to speak French with good comprehensible input.
You can choose the speed too. Start by listening to the story at a low speed, then listen to it faster. It will train your ears to listen to French at normal speed.
You can also now listen to an audiobook or « livre audio » in French. These are readers are specifically written for French learners so they should be comprehensible.
https://www.aliceayel.com/audiobooks-les-livres-audio/When you listen to and read a story, follow the 5 fingers rule. Put one finger up for each word you don’t know. If you have more than 3 fingers up, that means the story is probably too challenging for you still. So try another story. Remember, it should be a JOYFUL experience, NOT a chore ! Choose stories you enjoy, you are interested in.
We are now in the process of designing the Teen Stage. Once it is ready, you can start!
The more you hear French, the more you understand, the more you acquire French.
Sit comfortably, listen, read, try to understand, ENJOY.
Happy French acquisition!
