Coucou les French learners,
When you are on your own, it is hard to be disciplined and keep going. I get it! Especially when you don’t plan to visit France anytime soon. You are maybe acquiring French just to keep your brain active or because French is a beautiful language. All these reasons are valid but they might not push you to keep going.

Margot who joined us a few months ago shared on TrustPilot:
I started the Baby stage about four months ago and now I am able to understand most of what I hear and read as I progress through the beginner’s program. Alice is a wonderful and fun teacher. Her stories are amusing and memorable. There are so many ways to improve understanding — written stories, audio, drawings, podcasts and input from fellow students. I have joined a couple of her group zoom conversations and enjoyed the experience immensely.
Story of the day
Let’s kicked off a daily habit.
Go to our Community Chat for l’histoire du jour (story of the day). This is your chance to read and listen to a comprehensible French story every day. Remember, the goal is to grasp the essence of the story, not every single word.
The more you hear and read French, the more you understand. Before you know it, you understand French with ease. You think French naturally and finally you speak French freely!
This is what Paul said about today’s story, Le jambon-beurre:
Je vais prendre un jambon-beurre pour dejeuner pendant de mon “tour de la mort” à Paris (les Catacombes, le Panthéon, l’Hôtel des Invalides et le Cimetière du Père-Lechaise) mercredi prochain. Je pense que j’ai vu cette vidéo il y a quelques mois, qui me donne l’idee pour manger un jambon-beurre quand je retourne à Paris.
Read and listen to this story for FREE! Turn the Audio Sync view button on to hear and read the story at the same time. Be sure to watch the video at the bottom of the page.
Set aside dedicated time each day for French, whether it’s listening to French during your commute or reading a French story before bed. By making French acqusition a regular part of your routine, you will stick with it over the long term.
