Coucou les French learners,
On Monday, we celebrated la Saint Valentin.
To tell you the truth, My Dear Man and I don’t celebrate it BUT when I looked for the story of this Saint to publish it for the community, I was amazed to find out a beautiful story about love and freedom.
Valentine of Terni was a priest during the bloody reign of Emperor Claudius III, also known as Claudius the Cruel. Due to the number of military campaigns the emperor carried out, he was in constant need of young men for the empire’s army. He thus decided to outlaw marriage between young couples! Valentine refused to abide by the decree and continued to officiate weddings in secret. Eventually, he was discovered and sentenced to death.
While in prison awaiting execution, Valentine had befriended the jailer’s daughter; the two fell in love, and before his death, he sent her a letter, signed, of course, ‘from your Valentine.’
Did you know that every year on the Sunday before February 14, engaged couples from all over Italy take part in a special mass at the Basilica di San Valentino in Terni. The couples exchange their vows in front of the tomb of Saint Valentine, which is said to contain his relics, placed under the main altar.

Comment penser en Français ?
The new series of videos to motivate YOU to acquire French toute l’année, all year long is a hit! We have reached 20K subscribers on YouTube!!! Merci infiniment ! Your ongoing support encourages us to continue and spread the word about French the natural way.
Our last video helps you to think in French. This is actually the next step AFTER understanding French and the step BEFORE speaking French.
When you translate everything in your head, it becomes laborious and it does not help you to acquire French subconsciously. You may get stuck in between words, or lose the idea along the way. But, when you think directly in French, you can easily wake those dormant vocabulary phrases and words stored in your brain.
At the beginning, you are unable to express yourself, either inside or outside your head. Grammar and vocabulary are important but when it comes to thinking inside your head, it is time to let this go. Listening to stories and understanding them will make you think in French effortlessly. Once you start thinking in French, you will be able to speak. You will feel it in your guts and in your brain. Words a will come out of your mouth naturally.

Do you think in French or even dream in French?
I love what Cristina commented:
My 6 year old has been watching your stories (she has just finished the Baby Stage) and has also been watching Peppa Pig and Le petit royaume de Ben et Holly and two nights ago she suddenly woke up saying ” qu’est-ce qui se passe?” so I am sure she was dreaming in French😁 and I can’t stop her from speaking French. Every time I do the dishes she joins me in the kitchen and tells me a story (whiteboard included). She always begins by saying “Coucou la communauté des French learners! Aujourd’hui, je vais te raconter une histoire.”. She goes on by inventing stories and mixing the languages that she knows (we are Romanian, but also speak English). (Ex: la reine a worké for le renard).
