On Day 3, Williams asked me:

Hi, I know virtually no French and am a bit confused by this concept. Do I have to keep listening to a video until I know every word or just watch one after the other and hopefully some of it is remembered?

Here is my answer:

Bonjour Williams, you do not need to remember anything. You just need to understand what I am saying, the gist of what I am saying, not every word. The drawings will help you understand what I am saying. Little by little as you listen to more and more French, you will understand more and more and you will remember the words. But you don’t need to keep listening until you know every word. It happens subconsciously. Your brain remembers the words you understand.

A few minutes lates, Williams gave the BEST answer!

I understand, it must be working as the 1st word that came in my head when I woke up was “coucou” a word I had never heard of until I watched your videos 😊

My Dear Man has been working hard redesigning our site to make it more user-friendly. We now have hundred and hundred of compelling stories to read and to listen to.

You can read and listen to a story at the same time to improve your understanding, pronunciation, intonation and therefore to make REAL progress in French.

Do you know the story of le Petit Paon (Day 18 of the March Challenge)? It is a traditional French folktale about a smart little peacock who finds a golden coin. Read and listen to it for free! Make sure to activate the Audio Sync View button to listen and follow the story lines ate the same time.

We also have a Diaporama section with slideshows to follow the lyrics of a French song or to understand an authentic short video better. Did you know there is Japanese tradition called “Hanami” to admire the cherry trees blossom. Find out about it here.

Feel inspired and touched by Samuel Vincent’s story who with Asperger syndrome struggled to find a job. He decided to start selling crêpes in his own food truck.

We start start by sharing something we enjoyed reading, watching or listening to in French.

We then read a story together, sing a song, play games, write a story together. We spend time together all in comprehensible French.
